H.C.C. FANTASY CRICKET 2011
The annual challenge has been laid down by Adrian Osinski after his
strong run in the second half of the season took him to a
comfortable victory over Patrick Davies. For those of you who did
not take part last year and those of you who are new to the club,
the full rules are listed below. Note that there were 6 instances of
people falling foul of the underlined part of rule 1, the Q1 prize
went to the 4th placed manager!
The players you have available to pick are those who played for us
last year and have played at least four games during the last three
fantasy cricket seasons or three games last season. Players have
been allocated a rating based on their performance over that period.
I have weighted the ratings so that more recent performances count
more than earlier ones and adjusted a few players to more fairly
reflect expectations.
The Rules
-
Anyone, except the league administrator, shall be eligible
to enter one or more teams in the HCC Fantasy Cricket,
however prizes will only be paid to persons who have paid
their entry fee and 2011 subscription. If an entrant has not paid both at the point at which the prize is decided it will go to the next highest scoring team manager who has paid.
(Note that player's partners do not need to pay a social
subscription to receive a prize, if their partner has paid a
playing subscription.)
-
The entry fee will be five pounds per team (cash preferred). Please make sure your team selection has been received by me before the start of the second league game to earn full points. Any entries received after that will be deducted 50% of the points gained for prior weeks.
-
The fantasy league season will start 19th April and run for
20 weeks. Each week will run from Tuesday to Monday, i.e.: a
midweek game will be the first game in a week, not the last.
-
Points will be scored in all games within the period above that qualify for our averages, i.e.: those that are intended to be of at least 35 overs per side against adult teams.
-
Points will be scored according to the following: For each run 1 point, each wicket 20 points, each outfield catch 20 points, each wicket-keeper's catch 10 points, each stumping 30 points. 10 points will be deducted for each duck. Additional bonus points will be awarded; 5 for a four, 10 for a six, 50 for a fifty, 100 for a century, 3 for bowling a maiden over, 100 for 5 wickets in a match, 200 for 10 wkts in a match, 10 for a not out.
-
A team will consist of any 11 players from the list on the
entry form subject to those players chosen having a maximum
combined value of 8900 points at all times.
-
A team manager may make up to eleven substitutions in the course of the season. These will take effect from the start of the week in which they are received as long as it is before the commencement of the Saturday game(s).
-
A prize of at least £5 will be awarded to the team scoring
the most points in each of the 4 quarters of the season
(19/4-23/5, 24/5-27/6, 28/6-1/8, 2/8-5/9). The team scoring
the most points over the season will win 70% of the
remaining entry fees and the runner up the rest.
-
In the event of any dispute or the league administrator's inability to continue administering the Fantasy Cricket the decision of the committee will be final.
I hope you will all enter a team and enjoy the competition between your club mates. I will e-mail the current standings and the points earned by each player regularly, subject to receiving the score-books.
You can download the latest available standings using the link below. Please note that this competition is not in any way linked with the competitions run by the company that owns the trade mark and word mark of the combination of the words fantasy and league. They have insisted I remove this term from this site as they think that, I quote, "Your use of the term ... constitutes use of the sign that would infringe our registrations in Class 41 as such use is likely to cause confusion in the minds of the public as to the origin of your content and/or game". Hence the change of the name of the league to Fantasy Cricket.
